Measuring Acceptance of Block-Based Coding Environments

Abstract The development of computational thinking skills is attracting attention worldwide. use visual or block-based coding in primary schools has gained momentum. Yet, students' acceptance such environments been neglected the literature. This study presents a measurement instrument that will allow pursuing an endeavor. Technology Acceptance Model was used as guiding framework. A panel eight experts and purposive sample 315 elementary school students ( M age = 10.18 years, SD 1.13) were recruited. Inter-rater agreement between (75–100%) confirmed content validity items. Exploratory factor analysis resulted three-factor solution 12 items measuring perceived usefulness , ease attitudes towards coding. Inspection correlation matrix provided evidence convergent discriminant validity. Cronbach’s alpha (.75–.82), McDonald’s omega (.68–.83), Spearman-Brown’s split-half coefficients (.67–.80) reliability. Overall, findings support reliability proposed instrument. Its can shed light on different environments.
